Anabell Bologna

Dr Anabell Bologna received her degree in dentistry from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1996. She subsequently joined the private clinic of Dr Laplana. In 1998, she began her training in dental laboratory technology through the Fellowship Program of the University of Texas in Houston, USA. She gained further experience by attending numerous training courses and working as an intern in the laboratories of leading ceramic manufacturers at home and abroad.

Anabell Bologna is a frequent speaker on the lecture circuit and she holds practical workshops at scientific events and at universities. She is a lecturer in esthetics at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and the secretary of the executive committee of the Venezuelan association for dental prosthetics (Sociedad Venezolana de Prótesis Estomatológica).

Oliver Brix
Oliver Brix

Oliver Brix is a trained dental technician. Since 1989 he has worked in various dental laboratories and dental practices. He specializes in the fields of esthetics and function, PFM ceramics and all-ceramics, biomechanical occlusal surface design, the electroplating technique and implantology.

From 1990 to 1998 he participated in various continuing education programs at home and abroad. Since 1994 he has worked as a freelance collaborator in several dental practices in the field of Functional and esthetic fixed prostheses.

He has conducted various continuing education courses and lectures on a freelance basis and holds lectures on the subject of esthetics and ceramics worldwide, also as a guest lecturer for Ivoclar Vivadent. Oliver Brix has been a member of the “Zahntechnischer Arbeitskreis Düsseldorf“ (Dusseldorf study group of dental technicians) since 1997 and an active member of the “DGÄZ“ (German association of esthetic dentistry) since 2000. Since 2006, he has been running his own business in Wiesbaden, Germany. In 2010 he founded the International Training Centre in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Urs Brodbeck
Urs Brodbeck

Dr Urs Brodbeck is a Specialist SSO/SSRD for Reconstructive Dentistry who runs a private practice at the Dental Clinic North-Zurich, Switzerland. He works as an instructor at the Prophylaxis Clinic Zurich and holds lectures on all-ceramic reconstructions and esthetic dentistry worldwide.

From 1986 to 1988, Dr Brodbeck worked as an assistant in a private dental practice in Davos, Switzerland.

From 1988 to 1990 he worked as an assistant in the Department of Crown and Bridge Prosthodontics and Dental Materials at the Centre for Dental and Oral Medicine and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery of the University of Zurich.

From 1990 to 1994, Dr Brodbeck was Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Crown and Bridge Prosthodontics and Dental Materials at the Centre for Dental and Oral Medicine and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery of the University of Zurich.

He was a visiting lecturer at the University of Sydney, Australia, in 1995. In 1996 he became Associate Professor in the Department for Preventive Dentistry, Periodontology and Cariology at the Centre for Dental and Oral Medicine and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery of the University of Zurich.

August Bruguera
August Bruguera

August Bruguera trained as a dental technician and received further training at private dental laboratories in various European countries. He is an honorary member of ACADEN (Asociación Científica para Defensa e Investigación de la Prótesis Dental).

August Bruguera is the author of various specialist articles, which have appeared in international magazines. He also gives lectures at international meetings and congresses. In addition, he is a member of the editorial board of “Dental Dialogue” (Spanish issue) as well as of the magazine “Estética”. Moreover, he is the author of the textbooks “Shades – a world of colours” and “Invisible: Esthetic Ceramic Restorations” (with Prof. Sidney Kina).

Between 1999 and 2002, August Bruguera worked at the University of Barcelona as a professor in the postgraduate program of Dr Tomás Escuín. In 2003, he received the “Bisturí de oro” award. August Bruguera is the head of the dental lab and training centre “Disseny Dental bcn” in Barcelona and of “Dental excellence”, Spain.

Christian Coachman
Christian Coachman

Dr Christian Coachman received his dental degree from the University of São Paulo and his dental technology certificate from Rocha Marmo School (São Paulo, Brazil). He completed a dental ceramic specialization program and opened his own laboratory in 1996.

Dr Coachman was an instructor at the Ceramoart Ceramic Training Centre (São Paulo, Brazil) in 2001. From 2001 to 2004, he worked as a technical consultant at Oraltech, São Paulo. He is a founder of and has been a lecturer at the Insight Group Ceramic Training Centre (Bauru, Brazil) since 2003. He is a member of the Brazilian society of esthetic dentistry.

From 2004 to 2008, Dr Coachman was the head ceramist of Team Atlanta consisting of Dr Ronald Goldstein, Dr David Garber and Dr Maurice Salama. He lectures and publishes internationally in the fields of cosmetic dentistry, oral rehabilitation, dental ceramics and dental implants.

Galip Gürel
Galip Gürel
Dr Galip Gürel graduated from the Dental School at the University of Istanbul in 1981. He continued his studies at the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Kentucky and received his Master’s degree from the Yeditepe University in Istanbul.
 
Dr Gürel is the founder and honorary president of EDAD (Turkish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry). He is the President of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED) for 2011 and 2012, as well as a member of the American Society for Dental Aesthetics (ASDA) and the honorary diplomat of the American Board of Aesthetic Denistry (ABAD).
 
Furthermore, he is the editor-in-chief of the Turkish issue of the Quintessence magazine and on the editorial board of the AACD journal, PPAD (Practical Procedure & Aesthetic Dentistry), EJED and Spectrum.
 
Dr Gürel has given lectures on dental esthetics all over the world and post-graduate lectures on
esthetics. Currently, he is a visiting professor at the New York University (USA), Marseille Dental University (France) and Istanbul Yeditepe University (Turkey).
 
He is the author of “The Science and Art of Porcelain Laminate Veneers” published by Quintessence Publications in 2003.
 
He has been practicing in his own clinic specializing in esthetic dentistry in Istanbul since 1984.
David Hornbrook
David Hornbrook

Dr David Hornbrook, who graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry, Los Angeles, USA, has consulted with numerous manufacturers in product development and refinement. He has been a guest faculty member of the post-graduate programs in Cosmetic Dentistry at various universities in the United States.

He currently practices in San Diego, CA. Dr Hornbrook is on the editorial board of Practical Procedures & Esthetic Dentistry, Contemporary Esthetics, Signature, and is the past editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

He is also the current clinical editor of the Dental Practice Report, as well as a member of the Esthetic Dentistry Research Group. Dr Hornbrook is an accredited member and Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He was the founder and past director of P.A.C.~live, and is now the director of “The Hornbrook Group Esthetic Seminars”. He has lectured internationally on all facets of esthetic dentistry and has published articles in most of the leading dental journals.

Shan Jiang
Shan Jiang
Dr Jiang was the first dental professional to promote the IPS Empress ceramic technique/system in China in 2005.
 
While he worked for Ivoclar Vivadent, he held over a hundred seminars and gave hands-on courses about esthetic ceramic restorations all over China. The attendees came from stomatology hospitals, dental schools, public hospitals and private clinics.

He then returned to the dental clinical field. Currently, he runs his own clinic and dental lab in Beijing Nuoya. Among his patients are movie stars and singers who attach great importance to the appearance of their teeth and smile. Therefore, over 90% of the restorations he fabricates are esthetic ceramic restorations and MICD porcelain veneers. Dr Jiang is involved in both the clinical and laboratory side of the fabrication process.

Dr Jiang is well known not only for his all-ceramic restorations und excellent lab work, but he is also considered an expert in esthetic implant dentistry, esthetic soft tissue reconstruction, dental photography and DSD. He is the author of several books. In the 1990s, he taught various master courses about ceramics.
Shigeo Kataoka
Shigeo Kataoka

Shigeo Kataoka is an internationally acclaimed ceramic specialist, teacher and lecturer. He joined the Osaka Dental Studio Co. Ltd in 1969. He attended Yukioka Medical Technology School, which he completed successfully in 1972.

He taught at the Apex Company (Los Angeles, USA) for three years, starting in 1980. In 1984, he established the Osaka Ceramic Training Centre. Then, in 1989, he founded the private laboratory Kataoka Ceramic Ltd and in 1993 the Osseo Integration Implant Laboratory, both in Osaka, Japan.

In addition, Shigeo Kataoka has written various technical articles on dental ceramics and implants. His first technical book “Nature’s Morphology” was released in 1993. In 2006, his second technical book “Harmony” was published in Japanese.

Sidney Kina
Sidney Kina

Prof. Sidney Kina graduated from the Santa Catarina School of Dentistry, Florianópolis, Brazil, and earned a Master of Science in Dentistry from Piracicaba da Unicamp University, Brazil. From 1991 to 2008 he was Professor of Dental Proshetics and Geriatric Dentistry at the State University of Maringá.

He is the author of the books “Invisible: Esthetic Ceramic Restorations” (2007) and “Equilibrium – Adhesive Ceramic Case Book” (2009).

From 2004 to 2009 he was the editor of “Journal of Esthetic Dentistry“. Currently, Prof. Kina is the editor of “Dental Clinical Implants – International Journal of Brazilian Dentistry”.

Prof. Kina is an honorary member of the Brazilian Society of Esthetic Dentistry. In addition, he is the coordinator of the master course in denture prosthetics at the São Leopoldo Mandic School of Dentistry in Campinas, Brazil.

Rafael Laplana
Rafael Laplana

Dr Rafael Laplana studied at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, and he has headed up Laplana-Bologna Estética Dental Avanzada since he graduated in 1981. The centre specializes in esthetic dentistry and implantology as well as complex restorative dentistry.

Apart from presiding over the Sociedad Venezolana De Prótesis Estomatológica, he serves on the board of the capital’s dental association and is responsible for the portfolio of advanced education. Furthermore, he chairs the Congreso Odontológico Metropolitano, and he is a member of a number of national and international research organizations.

Rafael Laplana is a recognized speaker at national and international congresses and he offers practical and theoretical advanced training courses. He lectures at national universities, and he has co-authored several scientific publications. He is also the director of advanced education at the Instituto de Estudios Avanzados.

Matt Roberts
Matt Roberts

Matt Roberts is one of the most recognized Dental Ceramists in the United States. He grew up working in his father’s dental practice where he became interested in dentistry. He attended college at Idaho State University. In 1979 he founded CMR Dental Laboratory.

Matt Roberts is an accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He lectures nationally and internationally and has worked with many of the leading clinicians in the country. He is on the editorial board of Practical Periodontal and Esthetic Dentistry, and Signature Magazine.

Matt Roberts is the founder of Team Esthetic Seminars and holds advanced level training classes for dentists and ceramists. His goals are to elevate the quality of restorative treatment received by patients by creating an interactive working relationship between dentists, ceramists and other specialists.

Tony Rotondo
Tony Rotondo
Dr Rotondo received his undergraduate degree from the University of Queensland in 1984. From 1984 until 1994, Dr Rotondo practiced as a general practitioner in both London (UK) and Brisbane, Australia.
 
Dr Rotondo completed a postgraduate residency in Prosthodontics at the University of California Los Angeles, in 1996. He is now a registered Prosthodontist, currently practicing in Brisbane City and on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Dr Rotondo has a specific interest in esthetic dentistry and teaches at an undergraduate level and in postgraduate Prosthodontics, on a part time basis at the University of Queensland. Dr Rotondo is also a past President of the Australian Society of Aesthetic Dentistry (QLD branch) and a member of numerous professional organizations. He lectures extensively in Australia and abroad in the areas of prosthodontics and esthetic dentistry.
Jaejun Ryu
Jaejun Ryu
Prof. Ryu Jaejoon, the chief of dental department at Korea University Anam Hospital and head professor at the esthetic restoration department of Korea University Graduate School of Clinical Dentistry, earned his Bachelor’s degree at Yonsei University in 1988. He completed his Master’s and Doctor’s degree at the College of Medicine, Korea University, with his study about implants in 1999.
 
Currently, he is a director of the Korea University Implant Centre and serves as a president of the Korean Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and vice president of the Korean Academy of Digitalized Dentistry. In addition to that, he is a next term president of ICOI Korea and the director of the Asian Academy of Osseointegration.
 
From 2005 to 2006, while he worked at the University of British Columbia (UBC) as a visiting professor, he investigated implant healing. He was also a KU-UBC Joint Academic Program Director during the period.
 
He has been a speaker at various domestic and foreign conferences and he was recently invited to give a lecture on esthetics in the anterior region and implants at the AACD Orlando Meeting and AAP Taiwan Meeting.
 
In 2014, his book about esthetic dentistry, “Contemporary All-ceramic Anterior Restoration”, was published.
Andrea Shepperson
Andrea Shepperson

Dr Andrea Shepperson is an internationally recognised clinician, thought leader and educator who has contributed to the growth of aesthetic dentistry with her courses, presentations and publications.

One of New Zealand’s best known dentists, Dr Andrea Shepperson is a sought-after speaker and media representative in New Zealand and Australia. Her innovative solutions and extensive clinical experience continues to shape cosmetic and general dentistry in New Zealand. She has an interest in ceramics, tooth wear and erosion.

She is a Digital Smile Design Master, a Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a founding Member of the American Academy of Oral and Systemic Health as well as a Mentor and Alumni of the internationally renowned Kois Center in Seattle, USA.

She is a past Director and Chairwoman of the NZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

She founded Shepperson Education, a clinical coaching and consulting company for dentists in New Zealand in 2008.

Dr Shepperson studied dentistry at the University of Otago in New Zealand and graduated in 1984. She currently practices in private practice in Auckland, New Zealand.

Michele Temperani
Michele Temperani

Michele Temperani is a certified dental technician who specialized in the field of fixed denture prosthetics in the USA, where he attended the courses of the Tanaka Dental Technology Institute and the seminars of Masahiro Kuwata at the University of Washington.

For three years, he was the head of the ceramic department at Kijosato Okamoto dental lab in Seattle (USA).

Since 1990, he has been the co-owner of a dental laboratory in Florence (Italy) together with his brother, where he specializes in ceramic restorations. He has been using the press technique for the fabrication of all-ceramic restorations since 1998.

He conducts courses and holds lectures at international meetings on a regular basis and is the Author of numerous publications.

Chang-Woo Woo
Chang-Woo Woo
Woo Changwoo, an IPS e.max opinion leader for Ivoclar Vivadent Korea, entered the world of dental technology through the dental technology department of Shingu College in 1993. Subsequently, he joined the central dental laboratory at Yonsei University Dental Hospital. At present, he is the head of this laboratory and aims is to share his knowledge and know-how in the field of esthetic prosthetics, which is based on his wealth of clinical experience and studies, with dentists and dental technicians.

In order to promote clinical dental education and information sharing, Woo Changwoo established ZahnArt Training Centre in Seoul in 2007, which has become an outstanding educational institution supported by the government with the approval of its curriculum by the Ministry of Employment and Labour and its approval as an educational facility by the Ministry of Education. Moreover, the Training Centre has been designated as a Partner of ICDE through the authentication of Ivoclar Vivadent. As the director of ZahnArt, which is an international educational institution, Woo Changwoo cooperates with renowned clinicians from many countries and gives dental education and training courses on a regular basis.

Gonzalo Zubiri
Gonzalo Zubiri

Gonzalo Zubiri started his career as a dental technician after finishing his studies at the University of Buenos Aires. His interests focused on finding lifelike solutions for esthetic problems in anterior teeth.

He received additional professional training from international experts such as August Bruguera, Sidney Kina, Gerald Ubassy and Nondas Valchopoulos, in the course of which he learned to meet new challenges and improve his technique. At the same time, he established his own dental laboratory named Masterpiece.

In 2014, he founded the Centro de Capacitación Masterpiece with the objective of developing professional skills in the fabrication of high-quality all-ceramic restorations and promoting the effective communication between dentists and dental technicians. In this centre, he has also been able to expand his knowledge of using Ivoclar Vivadent products in the dental laboratory.
